Custom doors are made to order, so the price depends on a handful of details. Having them ready is the quickest way to get a number you can rely on, and it avoids surprises once production starts. Here is what to prepare before you ask for a price.
1. Measure the opening, not the old door
Measure the width and height of the opening, the clear space inside the frame. Take each measurement in more than one place, because walls are rarely perfectly square, and write down the smallest figure. Note the wall thickness too, since it decides how deep the frame needs to be. If you are unsure, ask your contractor or fitter to measure before you order.
2. Say where the door will go
A bedroom door, a bathroom door and a main entrance door are not built the same way. Moisture, noise and security all change what the door needs to be made of and how heavy it is. Some buildings also require fire-rated doors, so check with your contractor or building management before you decide.
3. Bring the design
Haji Furniture manufactures doors. We do not design them. The most useful thing you can send is a clear reference: a photo, a catalogue page, a drawing, or a picture of a door you have seen and liked. The price follows the design, so a good reference saves a lot of back and forth.
4. Decide the finish and the hardware
Say what finish you want, such as painted, natural wood or laminate, and whether handles, locks and hinges are included or supplied by you. Also tell us which side the hinges go on and whether the door opens into the room or out of it. A quick sketch or photo of the doorway removes any doubt.
5. Give the quantity
Ten identical doors are priced differently from a single door. Tell us the total number, and say whether the sizes repeat. For a villa or a building project, a simple list with a size and location for each door is ideal.
